Sale price $125.00 Regular price $135.00

Come join us at Marnée's Studio (2353 Airport Blvd, Mobile, AL 36606) to learn unique and fabulous watercolor methods from the very talented Lisa Hancock! This watercolor class is for adult beginners to intermediate students ages 16+. It is helpful if the student has a basic understanding of drawing techniques and composition, but not necessary.

The natural world has been a source of inspiration for artists over the centuries. Students will learn basic color theory and watercolor techniques using landscape works of art and Audubon collections as sources of inspiration, to better understand the connection between art and nature. Students will then use these resources to create their own works of art.

Demonstrations are given during each class meeting, as needed. The students are able to paint with the instructor and apply what they have learned to create a painting from a photographic reference.

  • Washes - Demonstrate the ability to effectively use wash techniques in their paintings.
  • Glazes - Demonstrate the ability to effectively make glazes with watercolor to develop mixtures of colors.
  • Color Mixing - Demonstrate the ability to mix colors on a palette and directly apply to painting.
  • Color Theory - Utilize color theory to help develop their paintings using a limited palette.
  • Processes - Demonstrate through their paintings the ability to utilize various techniques, processes, and use of materials including: working wet into wet, dry brush, working on pre-moistened paper, using mixed materials to create texture with watercolor, spattering technique, lifting and basic care of materials.
